Croydon Camogie Club is the oldest surviving club in London and was formed in 1986.
Our members range in age from 16 to 40 (though we have one or two more "senior" players as well!). Most are Irish born, or 2nd/3rd generation Irish, but we do have a few players with absolutely no Irish connections - all are welcome!
The playing season starts in March, and runs until November. We normally start to get together for a game of football/basketball from about February, and go onto the pitch as soon as the weather starts to pick up a bit.
Training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Poulter, Park, Mitcham, and we ususally have a game (or games) on Sundays. The nearest overground station or tram stop is Mitcham Junction (trains direct from Victoria). Lifts can also be arranged from East/West Croydon stations or Colliers Wood on the Northern Line.
The social side of the club is equally as important as the competitive side. After games, we make a point of going out together as a club, and the craic is always fairly good....take a look at the photo gallery for an indication of what I mean!!!
Croydon are the 2004 Senior League Champions, Senior Championship Runners-up and Junior League Runners-Up. In 2003, Croydon were double Junior & Senior County Champions.
